چکیده
A certain number of questions are raised to physicists and astrophysicists concerning : (1) the conditions under which stellar matter becomes a highly correlated plasma ; (2) the role of mass loss in the formation of dense matter ; (3) the evolution of white dwarfs accreting matter (with its consequences for the formation of compact X ray sources and pulsars) . 1 . Introduction. The solution of a large number of astrophysical problems depend on the understanding of the physical properties of dense matter . However, the expression dense matter does not refer to a simple domain in the plane of the state variables (T .p .) . (1) Dense matter can be defined as a highly correlated plasma . II we call a the radius of the ionic sphere, a highly correlated plasma is defined by the

Pair-distribution functions of two-temperature two-mass systems: comparison of molecular dynamics, classical-map hypernetted chain, quantum Monte Carlo, and Kohn-Sham calculations for dense hydrogen.
Two-temperature, two-mass quasiequilibrium plasmas may occur in electron-ion plasmas, nuclear-matter, as well as in electron-hole condensed-matter systems. Dense two-temperature hydrogen plasmas straddle the difficult partially degenerate regime of electron densities and temperatures which are important in astrophysics, in inertial-confinement fusion research, and other areas of warm dense-matt...
متن کاملModeling nuclear fusion in dense plasmas using a cryogenic non-neutral plasma
An analogy between the nuclear reaction rate in a dense neutral plasma and the energy equipartition rate in a strongly magnetized non-neutral plasma is discussed. This analogy allows the first detailed measurements of plasma screening enhancements in the strong screening and pycnonuclear regimes. In strong magnetic fields and at low temperatures, cyclotron energy, like nuclear energy, is releas...

Plasmas have a broad field of applications, such as air-breathing hypersonic vehicles (plasma control for scramjet engine), spacecraft atmospheric entries (influence of precursor electrons and prediction of blackout phenomenon), high-enthalpy wind tunnels (plasmatron, arc-jet, and shock tube facilities), lightning phenomena, discharges at atmospheric pressure, laboratory nuclear fusion and astr...
متن کاملDense and Relativistic Plasmas Produced by Compact High-intensity Lasers
High-intensity lasers interacting with plasmas are used to study processes in the laboratory that would otherwise only occur in astrophysics. These include relativistic plasmas, electron acceleration in ultrahigh Ðeld-gradient wake Ðelds, pressure ionization and continuum lowering in strongly coupled plasmas, and X-ray line emission via Raman scattering. Subject headings : acceleration of parti...
متن کاملElectron-ion scattering in dense multi-component plasmas: application to the outer crust of an accreting neutron star
The thermal conductivity of a dense multi-component plasma is critical to the modeling of accreting neutron stars. To this end, we perform large-scale molecular dynamics simulations to calculate the static structure factor of the dense multi-component plasma in the neutron star crust from near the photosphere-ocean boundary to the vicinity of the neutron drip point. The structure factors are us...
